About Us

The Acquerino Cantagallo Association is a non-profit volunteer organization. We are committed to the protection and development of the Acquerino Cantagallo Nature Reserve and the surrounding areas. We organize many activities embracing social solidarity and the development of this natural heritage site.
Friendship
More than anything, we are a group of friends, but in 2016 we established a volunteer association to promote the reserve.
Passion
Every one of us has their own skills and different interests, but there's one big passion that keeps us all united: the love for our land.
Values
Education, solidarity, respect, conservation: we strongly believe in these values and we always make sure they are at the centre of our work.
Community
We have a strong sense of community and we like to involve our members by inviting them to offer their valuable help.

The Association

The Acquerino Cantagallo Association was founded by a group of friends who are passionate about their local area. Over the years, a diverse network of people has grown but we have maintained the aims of promoting and rediscovering our beloved mountainous lands. What We Do

Environment
We are committed to the development and protection of nature and the environment through various kinds of activities aimed at understanding the botanical and wildlife heritage of the reserve.
Education
We organize educational and outreach activities, training and communication via our social networks, publications, exhibitions and meetings which cover the Association’s main interests.
Tourism
We organize activities to promote the area and we contribute to the development of sustainable tourism, with the aim of enhancing and expanding people’s knowledge of the area's resources and attractions.
Projects
We support projects involving the environment and activities in the area, including studies and research, hiking trail projects and related facilities.
Conservation
We contribute to the conservation, improvement and management of mountain huts for hiking activities, through the development of community experiences at one with nature.
Maintenance
We carry out regular path and facility maintenance, including installing vertical and horizontal signposting and promoting an ecological culture.

The Acquerino Cantagallo Association manages Casa Bastone. The house, with its red windows, looks over the city of Prato below. The Acquerino Cantagallo App! Now available in a renewed version with more content and information. Set off to discover the “Giro dei 5 Rifugi”, the “Giro dei Castagneti” and the “Anello del Cigno Bianco”, three unique itineraries that combine history and nature through the typical elements of our territory.
